As early as 838, our city on the Ems was mentioned in the deed of donation and is proud of this long history. However, Rheine not only looks back to its roots but also looks to Europe and the world - not least because diverse cultures live here. Rheine's city history can be experienced on a walk through the city center and is reencountered in many places. The two large historical museums, the Bentlage Monastery and the Falkenhof complement the people's passion behind the exhibits.
