Card
Hans-Gerald H. Forg is a specialist in pain therapy and palliative medicine in his practice in Mainz.
To provide patients with severe illness with extensive relief of symptoms and associated pain and improved quality of life, Hans-Gerald H. Forg is dedicated to treating and supporting patients with non-curable diseases and chronic pain.
Tumor Diseases: State-of-the-Art Therapies for Pain Relief and a Better Quality of Life
Modern pain therapy is based on three pillars in the Hans-Gerald Forg practice:
The first supporting pillar describes multimodal pain therapy, which includes a holistic approach to pain relief in tumor diseases. As a result, Mr. Forg, as an experienced physician, combines various therapeutic methods such as medicinal pain therapy, relaxation techniques, psychotherapy, and alternative approaches such as acupuncture.
As an experienced pain therapist, Mr. Forg is proficient in interventional procedures that promise fast and effective pain relief in tumor diseases. He attaches great importance to nerve and plexus blockade. In this procedure, the pain-conducting nerve cords or plexuses are blocked by injecting a local anesthetic.
The third pillar describes the technique of neuromodulation. In this method, pain-conducting nerve pathways in the body are specifically stimulated using weak electrical pulses to reactivate the body's inhibitory mechanisms, effectively relieving the intensity of the pain. In tumor diseases, neuromodulation is used to relieve pain in specific regions of the body, such as the back or limbs.
Specialist for Degenerative Diseases of the Nervous System, Skeleton, or Musculature
In musculoskeletal disorders, symptoms are often exacerbated by inadequate relieving postures, so damaging wear and tear and pain increase. By reducing pain targeted, damaging relieving postures can be prevented to break the vicious circle and ultimately significantly improve mobility and quality of life.
Highest Expertise in Palliative Care for Non-Curable Diseases
Palliative care is derived from the Latin word "palliare" and literally means "to wrap in a mantle." This vividly describes the caring task of caring medicine in the final stages of a terminal illness.
Not only cancer patients in the final phase are entitled to effective pain shielding and consideration of medical measures that serve exclusively to alleviate symptoms and maintain quality of life, and no longer to cure. Even in severe heart failure, renal or liver failure, or end-stage lung disease, effective pain and symptom control through individualized palliative care can allow for self-determined dying.
Mr. Forg cooperates with outpatient and inpatient institutions, such as the hospice in Mainz, to ensure a dignified end of life for his patients. A round-the-clock on-call service has also been set up for all patients under his care to respond immediately to acute pain episodes or distressing symptoms.
A particular focus is on end-of-life care for seriously ill and mentally disabled children in care facilities or at home.
Individual Therapy for Chronic Pain
In treating chronic pain syndromes, a holistic approach is necessary to respond individually to the patient's situation. In individual cases, if there is a reasonable hope for relief of pain symptoms, the still unconventional use of medical cannabis products should not be categorically rejected.
Especially in cases of chronic pain combined with muscular spasticity or in patients suffering from a depressive illness, Mr. Forg also uses cannabis products with highly positive experiences.
Fibromyalgia: Specialized Care and Pain Relief for Sufferers
Patients with fibromyalgia typically experience continuous pain that can affect the entire body or specific areas. They usually complain about muscle, joint, and bone pain. However, the intensity, duration, and location of the pain can vary greatly. The pain usually intensifies with cold weather, stress, physical activity, and exertion.
Mr. Forg has a broad range of experience in the care of fibromyalgia patients and is aware of the suffering of those affected by chronic pain. He develops a participatory therapy concept with his patients that includes physical activity and the use of proven medications for neuropathic pain.
